Will the Bosch PowerPack 400 Rack (the smart system) work with the Bosch Performance Line CX Race Limited Edition drive unit (the smart system)?

Yes. Both use Bosch smart system PowerPack Rack (luggage-rack mounted) battery.

Both records are reviewed against the manufacturers' sources; sources last checked 2026-10-14. Informational only: confirm with the manufacturer before buying.

Why

  • ✓ Both use Bosch smart system PowerPack Rack (luggage-rack mounted) battery.

Good to know

  • Only fits bikes whose rear rack is built for the smart-system PowerPack Rack; Bosch's page does not state that every rack takes both the 400 and 500 Rack, so confirm with the bike maker or dealer.
  • Not interchangeable with frame PowerPacks or with System 2 rack PowerPacks.
  • Bosch: 'Use only original Bosch batteries that the manufacturer has approved for your eBike' and 'Only charge the battery using original Bosch chargers'; Bosch warns other batteries/chargers can be a fire hazard (Bosch PowerTube 750 operating instructions, as hosted on ManualsLib).
  • Safety: use only batteries and chargers the drive-system maker approves. Lithium batteries that don't match can overheat.
