Will the Kingston NV3 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2230 SSD (SNV3SM3/1T0) work with the ThinkPad T480?
Yes, with conditions. Works only with the M.2 2230-to-2280 extender bracket.
Both records are reviewed against the manufacturers' sources; sources last checked 2026-10-14. Informational only: confirm with the manufacturer before buying.
Why
- ✓ A 2230 drive is shorter than the 2280 bay, which has no 2230 mounting point.
- ✓ NVMe is supported by this slot.
Conditions
- M.2 2230-to-2280 extender bracket: The slot has no 2230 mounting point.
Good to know
- The manufacturer lists only 2280 mounting points. It works only with an M.2 2230-to-2280 extender bracket (not included) to secure the drive.
- This PCIe 4.0 drive will run at the slot's PCIe 3.0 speed. It works, just not at full speed.
